A Brown’s palm oil operations are conducted through two subsidiaries — Surigao Greens Agricultural Corporation (SGAC) and A Brown Energy and Resources Development, Inc. (ABERDI) — engaged in the processing and trading of crude palm oil and related products.
Tambis, Barobo, Surigao del Sur
SGAC operates a fully functional crude palm oil (CPO) milling facility, serving as the group’s current focus for palm oil operations. The plant has a rated capacity of 10 tons per hour and sources fresh fruit bunches (FFB) from independent growers and nearby plantations in the Surigao and Agusan regions.
Its strategic location allows for efficient logistics, lower transport costs, and reliable raw material supply. SGAC’s operations provide the platform for the Group’s continued participation and growth in the domestic palm oil industry.
Malubong, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon
ABERDI established one of the Group’s earliest palm oil processing facilities, consisting of a 10- ton-per-hour crude palm oil mill and a 50-ton-per-day Refined, Bleached, and Deodorized (RBD) physical refinery with fractionation, completed in 2015. The refinery produces up to 1,000 metric tons of palm olein per month.
At present, ABERDI’s facilities in Bukidnon are under care and maintenance as the Group prioritizes operations through SGAC’s active milling plant in Surigao del Sur.
Strategic Outlook
The Group aims to strengthen its foothold in the palm oil sector through SGAC’s efficient operations in Surigao del Sur, while maintaining ABERDI’s Bukidnon assets in good condition for potential future reactivation or partnership opportunities.
Irradiation Solutions Inc. (ISI) was incorporated on January 4, 2021 as a 100% subsidiary of A. Brown Co. Inc. (ABCI) to pursue the build out of a network of ionizing sterilization centers in the Philippines. Construction of the Tanay E-Beam and Cold Storage Facility (ISI E-Beam) began in April 2022 and was completed in the second quarter of 2024.
Status: Operating
The ISI E-BEAM is the pioneer E-Beam contract sterilization solutions provider in the Philippines. Electron Beam (E-Beam) Technology offers a safe and proven method for sterilizing products like fresh and processed food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, and packaging materials. This specialized technology, along with digital management systems in our warehousing and cold storage facilities, empowers Philippine businesses by enhancing safety and elevating product quality to meet global market standards.
ISI E-Beam has received the License to Operate (LTO) from the FDA’s Center for Device Radiation Health and Radiological Health (FDA-CDRRHR) and has become a fully operational facility as of August 2024. Furthermore, it is now a member of the International Irradiation Association (iia), which is a prominent organization dedicated to advancing the application of ionizing technology sterilization adhering to the highest international standards.
