Brown Group of Companies celebrated a Denim Inspired Christmas party last December 2, 2015 at Xavier Sports & Country Club Convention Hall with the theme: “Celebrating a Joyful Year of Unity and Love in the Spirit of Christmas.”
Employees rocked the hall with their greatest denim inspired outfits. Presentations and Friendly Competitions created a venue to showcase their different talents as well.
One of the highlights was Brown Group of Companies’ “YOUR FACE SOUNDS FAMILIAR” wherein four outstanding individuals from different departments showed their ability to impersonate famous local and foreign singers namely:
Mr. Ryan Saburnido (as Bob Marley) – Consolation Prize
Mr. Larry Tindoc (as Micheal Jackson)- 2nd Runner Up
Mr. Kim Bajenting (as Jaya) – 1st Runner up

Another highlight of the event was the Modern Denim Dance Competition.

One of the most awaited part in the event was the Christmas Raffle which has already been a tradition by the Brown Group.
Lots of prizes were given away including sofa beds, Samsung mobile phones and three units of 32” TCL Television.
The celebration ended with loads of fun, photos, dance, and music by the live band.
Last December 18, 2015 A Brown Energy & Resources Development Inc. holds it 1st Basketball Tournament “Battle of Champions” held at Xavier Sports and Country Club. It was participated by the selected players from Opol Plantation, Kalabugao Plantation and Aberdi Mill workers who also won as champions during their respective sportsfests.
The celebration was commenced by the parade of teams around the XSCC covered court followed by an opening program. A prayer was led by Froilan Fayre. An opening remark was given by Ruffy Magbanua and Sir Allan Anthony Ramos gave an inspirational message. It was indeed a very special and festive day for all workers. Everyone was excited and gave their best for the competition. Aberdi Mill players emerged as grand champion, Kalabugao plantation players garnered the 2nd runner up and Opol plantation players proclaimed as 3rd runner up.
Xavier Sports & Country Club had its Annual Stockholders Meeting last October 23, 2015 at the club’s bar lounge.
The President had it in his message to shareholders that the Facilities Revenue booked a record turnout 21% growth in 2014 from P3.1 million in 2013 to P3.7 million in 2014. Data also showed that Membership Dues Revenue reached 13% increase from a year ago figure of P2.1 million to P2.4 million. There is also a 2% improvement in Food and Beverage Revenues from P25.4 million in 2013 to 25.9 million in 2014.
All these were due to the aggressive facilities promotion, improvements in pricing packages and food varieties, visibility and exceptional service increased member awareness benefits, packages and club events. Annabel’s restaurant aims to continue to improve it menu by offering vegetarian dishes, kiddie specials and new desserts.
Having done all these, XSCCI is expected to improve more in all its facets now and for the coming years.
Employee engagement is a good predictor of organizational performance. Last September 27, 2015, the HR Department conducted an Employee Engagement Survey to Brown Group of Companies employees. The gathering of data lasted until October 16, 2015. There were at least 120 employees responded.
The results determine the employees’ sentiments towards their work, co-workers, heads, and to the company. The survey results were presented and discussed to different department heads and supervisors and gathered suggestions on how to address the areas for improvement and come up with intervention strategy.
4th Quarter Employee Re-orientation
Last November 13, 2015, Brown Group of Companies conducted the 4th Quarter Employee Re-orientation Seminar. This is to re-orient employees quarterly on the important topics such as Company Profile, Mission, Vision, Core Values, Code of Conduct, Procedures in Handling Administrative Case, Payroll & Timekeeping, Telephone & Office Etiquette, Safety & Health Standard, Drug Free Workplace Policy, HIV, TB & Hepa B and different Departmental Procedures.
This would help the employees recall the policies and procedures of the company and be guided over on performing the practices that created a family-like culture.
A Brown Company, Inc. hosted the last quarter “Kapehan With Dr. Bernie Villegas” on November 21, 2015 at Annabel’s Restaurant, Xavier Sports & Country Club. The said roundtable discussion was participated by 14 brilliant minds from the government and private sector, tacking significant trends and issues on economics and politics. Dr. Villegas led the discussion, with input from Mr. Victor Abola and Mr. Brillo Reynes.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities, A Brown Company, Inc., with businesses in real estate, agribusiness, power, and infrastructure in Mindanao and Visayas, conducts regular roundtable discussions on topics affecting the economy. These talks are done in partnership with Dr. Bernardo Villegas of the University of Asia & the Pacific.
A value formation session was conducted to the agency workers assigned in West Highlands, Butuan City on November 13 as part of the Culture on Value Formation Programs of A Brown Company.
The said session was attended by 75 agency workers from Service Partners Inc. (SPI) and Interserve Management and Manpower Resources Inc. that was facilitated by Ms. Quarren M. del Rosario, Manpower Development Officer of A Brown Company.
Mission, vision and it’s corporate core values of Family Spirit, Passion for Excellence and Love For Work, and Integrity. This is also a means of providing moral and ethical guidance to agency workers especially at the workplace.
This is the 5th session conducted this year to the agency workers. The same was conducted to areas in Xavier Estates, Cagayan de Oro City, Salawaga Opol & Kalabugao Plantations and Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.
As a publicly listed company, ABCI is responsible in managing tax and corporate strategies of all the businesses under it.
To continuously enhance, equip and be aware of the updated tax rules and regulations, a one-day seminar on Tax Updates was held last September 11 at Xavier Sports and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro City, conducted by the Tax Advisory and Audit Services of Reyes Tacandong & Co.
A total of 32 employees from the Finance group composed of finance heads, officers, and accounting personnel attended the said seminar.
The invited resource speakers were the Senior Manager of Tax Division, Atty. Rommel T. Geocaniga and the Sr. Associate –Tax Services, Atty. Kathlyn Jane B. Cainday, CPA.
The seminar provided updates on recent Legislative enactments, including Bureau of Internal Revenues (BIR) and Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) issuances, revenue regulations, memorandum circulars, memo order, Supreme Court decisions and Court of Appeals (CTA) Decisions.
A Brown’s Human Resources Department has been busy this September, organizing various activities geared towards the professional growth and personal development of different departments and employees.
A Brown Company, Inc., developer of premier subdivisions and alluring properties in Northern Mindanao, has been pulling all stops to mount three back-to-back weekend events: “Hype & Stripes” at Ventura Residences in Cagayan De Oro City, and “Golf Fun Games” and “Flowers & Greens” at West Highlands in Butuan City.
Hype & Stripes
The Saturday event of Ventura Residences was held on August 15 at the playground, featuring entertaining activities like the live band and Zumba.
Hype & Stripes started at one in the afternoon, with free food and drinks. It was open to all Ventura homeowners, as well as invited special guests and prospective buyers of the available house and lot packages and residential lots.
The said event was organized by the Sales and Marketing team of A Brown Company with the purpose of promoting Ventura Lane lots-only packages in Xavier Estates Ventura Residences Phase 5A. Guests were given a tour of the houses and lots, as well as brochures for their perusal in the comfort of their own homes.
According to Ms.Sherrylyn Neri, A Brown’s Sales Supervisor, there are more than 100 residential lots in Ventura that are available for sale. Most of the residential lots are nestled in a location where one can see the scenic view of the Western part of CDO.

Golf Fun Games
Held on September 5, the West Highlands Golf Fun Games was like a mini-Olympics for the avid golfers and valued guests invited to the event. It was divided into two categories: Class A and Beginners.
Enthusiasts had fun playing the following games: Longest Drive, Nearest to the Pin, and Pitching Challenge. Deserving winners triumphed with trophies. Souvenir towelettes were given to participants.
Flowers & Greens
The Flowers and Greens event was held simultaneously at West Highlands and was an equally huge success. The Plug and Play Acoustic band played soothing classics.
Guests were offered delicious pastries and breads for snacks. Walk-in clients went site tripping at the model house and checked out available lots for sale while taking in a breathtaking view of the Mt. Mayapay and the West Highlands Driving Range.

A Brown Company, Inc. recently organized a series of Learning Sessions for its Supervisors and Assistant Managers. The first session, “Supervisory 101,” was held last August 1, 2015 at the Bar Lounge of Xavier Sports & Country Club.
The activity aims to educate and equip the company’s Supervisors and Assistant Managers of their respective responsibilities and functions. Each session is set to provide a deep and concise perception on supervision and leadership concepts.
Participants were in three groups during the workshop.
Ms. Quarren M. del Rosario, Manpower Development Officer, was the speaker for the Learning Session.
This is just but one of the myriad initiatives of the company to develop and enhance the potentials of its employees.
A Brown Energy and Resources Development, Inc. (ABERDI) joined the Palm Oil Trade Fair and Seminar (POTS) 2015 held at Makati Shangri-La on August 6-7. The event carried the theme “Enhancing Philippines Oils and Fats Need Through Malaysian Palm Oil.”
POTS was organized by the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB). The key speaker of the said event was Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Malaysia’s Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, who opened the two-day event. There were around 500 delegates from traders, manufacturers, buyers and direct accounts. Among the important topics discussed are the Palm Oil Current Issues & Developments, Nutrition and Application of Palm Oil, Growth & Investment Opportunities Through Oil Palm Plantation Forum.

In 2012, the Philippine population had around 95.8M, with a Palm oil import of 500,750 MT and an import value of P27.50 billion. It is projected that by 2017 the Philippine population will grow to 120.1M, and Palm Oil import will double to 1,000,000MT with an import value of P54.50 billion.
